Art-Based Learning - Family Child Care Home in Elmwood Park, NJ
A R T !

Art is a visual language that all children speak, but later many forget. Not all children are fortunate to have parents and teachers who recognize the value of the creative process. Those parents and teachers help children's imagination to soar by providing opportunities to think, create, discover, problem solve and build confidence. These creative children grow into creative adults who invent, imagine, create and communicate in fresh new ways.

Art. Kids love it. When there is no expectation about the finished product, kids absolutely thrive in art! They just want to have fun, get messy and live in the moment. But while they are processing, they are learning. They love experimenting with different art tools like paint brushes, chalk, crayon, marker pen, finger-paint… They also enjoy using digital camera and different computer programs for editing their own photographs, creating their own books, movies, and graphic design works.

You will be amazed at the depth of joy and learning that takes place.
Art appreciation occurs through the combined experiences of learning to look
at and learning to create visual arts. With guidance and experience children will
become more sensitive to their environment. With improved aesthetic sensitivity, they have a greater chance to be creative and have a more enjoyable learning experiences. It also helps them develop their feelings of sensitivity, independence, and tolerance.

Creativity matters!
Our philosophy is emphasizing process over product in children's art. All of our projects are based on this philosophy and provide opportunities for open ended art exploration, with unlimited ways for kids to express their originality and reach their creative potential. There are no adult-made samples, so the imagination of the artist can roam free. There is no right or wrong way, only their way.

'Our task, regarding creativity, is to help children climb their own mountains, as high as possible. No one can do more.'
